NN4Y’s Position on Investing in Prevention and Services for Youth Experiencing Homelessness NOT in Policing and Incarceration
Learn more about the National Network for Youth’s (NN4Y) position of the need for investments in community-based services instead of increasing funding for the policing and carceral systems. Allocating significant resources to prevent and address youth and young adult homelessness is a first step towards addressing systemic racism, inequity, and discrimination. This approach is also a sound strategy for our young people’s future. You will also hear from one of our young leaders who has experienced multiple systems with negative outcomes and how difficult it was for him to access help to meet his basic life needs. Finally, several youth homelessness providers will share about the work they have done in their communities to divert youth from the police and carceral systems and to instead provide community-based support and services.
